Old thumbnail question (sorry, did search)

i sure has been asked before , i'm sorry posting again. did look, honest! answer not shouting here am, here well...

 

adobe cc suite 2017 loaded. win 7 64 bit pc32gb ram

 

this has been problem before on photoshop 6 (and still one), when @ file explorer see png/jpg thumbnails little icons with  ps  in blue on small black square.

 

this has annoyed heck out of me years until i've not been 'triggered' it's such trendy word now, -  have been triggered.

 

please can kind soul tell me if possible see thumbnails pictures again.

 

n.b. not want buy plug ins , i'd avoid registry hacks if possible.

 

all usual suspects have been interrogated, check box show thumbnails etc. no joy.

 

suggestions appreciated. thx.

see this: photoshop cs4. jpg icons appear psd icons. cannot identify or select them slideshows.

 

the answer might in folder options.

 

"bingo! 1 mystery explained folder options reveal: "always show icons, never thumbnails"  & "display file icon on thumbnails". new mystery, how did change?"
