Workflow question - how do you like to mark images completed as you go?

i'm nature , wildlife hobbyist , i'm beginning portraits asked.  means i'm working deadlines, working on various jobs @ once, , editing larger batches of images.  how keep track of completed images, unedited images, few special images stand further creative editing?

 

because there more learn editing portraits ever needed know editing pictures of flowers , birds, find myself bit disorganized.

 

currently, separate entire shoot poses or locations.  mark accepted proofs in each folder 5 star , stack edited images.  when i've post processed image, mark colored filter , add keyword of "final" on version plan export.

 

does have better ways of doing it?
