Refine Edge tool still broken

since version 2015.5 refine edge tool (which part of 'select , mask' window) doesn't work, unselects areas , adds transparency.

this bug occurred in version 2015.5 (with new 'select , mask' tool) , since then, 2015.5.1 , new 2017, haven't been resolved.

 

nothing seems work. tried update nvidia card (gtx970), deselect 'use graphcis processor', delete config file, uninstall , re-install photoshop - nothing helped (just clear, don't have custom brushes / presets /actions in photoshop).

 

i tried center (live chat) 3 times, each time said known issue , fixed 'in next update'. well, photoshop updated twice (2015.5.1, 2017), tool still broken. cant work done.

 

any advice?

 

you can try use old refine edge tool time being. hold down shift while going select > select , mask on menu bar. remember have selection made. remember: refine edge has been deprecated. it's matter of time before disappears after hold of select , mask.

 

mainly, i've stuck outer edges of object i've wanted refine. old refine edge had habit of "punching through" object should solid.
