Javascript for Text Entry Box to API for reporting

would able advise on writing javascript report user input text text entry box api reporting?
disclaimer: no know javascript.

what know:- using scorm 1.2
- lms allows me call following api
cmi.comments (scorm 1.2)
cmi.interactions[n].student_response (scorm 1.2)

cmi.interactions[n].id (scorm 1.2)
cmi.objectives[n].id (scorm 1.2)

my teb test creatively named

text_entry_box_1

text_entry_box_2

what not know:

how send value entered in text entry box api report on this?

if more 1 text entry box, how effect javascript?

where execute javascript (upon entering slide, exiting slide, clicking submit button?)

i found on 1 of forums looked close:

scorm_calllmssetvalue('cmi.comments', 'hello');
to me, looks set value of cmi.comments hello default. need value of text_entry_box_1
