Recover Photos

help!! imported photos onto external harddrive , several days later, hard drive undetectable. did check disc on , when came up, 3 days worth of photos missing. able recover 7 1/2 of sessions lost deep scanning memory card formatted, 1 1/2 of sessions written over. have previews in lightroom still, blurry , won't clear up. there way can recover these photos, or clear previews can use them?
