AE imports outdated version of PSD
this weird problem i've run sporadically years, across 2 jobs , numerous versions of photoshop , after effects.
the gist- after effects imports psd file composition contents of psd file of earlier version saved file.
the details- create layered photoshop file. while refining file has undergone several iterations, different numbers of layers, different groups of layers. file has been saved multiple times during process overwriting existing file.
finally when file approved of messy layers cleaned up, merged, or condensed leave tight , efficient file import after effects.
the problem when file imported after effects not condensed version rather older messy version layers , groups. it's after effects has accessed legacy version of file.
of course i've checked , double checked obvious possible user errors , there 1 file on hard drive, i’m not confusing 2 different saved files.
the fact photoshop loads 1 version while after effects loads older, outdated version. i've tried saving file under new name, copying different hard drive, restarting computer without changing outcome.
most of time import process works flawlessly maybe once or twice year problem pops up.
it’s not show stopping problem it’s weird.
does have idea what’s going on?
for reference here screen caps of how same file looks in ps vs imported ae.
thanks
andy
your file being imported image sequence (the layer icons have stacks of images rather one). in import dialog, uncheck "photoshop sequence". after effects seeing version numbers @ end of file names , assumes frame sequence numbers.
