Recurring problem being unable to select options within Paragraph Styles

there's problem keeps cropping paragraph styles options window.

 

when select basic character formats tab, takes me justification tab. when select tab, it'll take me one, , it's impossible end on ones need most, such basic character formats , indents , spacing.

i can't find resources online suggest others have had issue, , don't have clue how resolve it.

 

i'm using indesign cc on retina, 15 inch, mid 2015 macbook pro.

when indesign acts flaky, you, time reset preferences.

 

to reset preferences default settings, follow these steps:

 

quit application

 

hold down shift+ctrl+alt (windows) or cmd+opt+shift (mac) startup. on windows, have 1/10 of second between these steps. on mac, can hold down keys, launch application.

 

continue hold down keys until reset preferences dialog appears.

 

in reset preferences dialog, click yes.

 

the file containing preferences deleted, , recreated begin working.
