Can't set Bridge CC 2017 as default program for opening photos

i have done everything. on chat adobe customer care (what joke) , still can't "right-click" on jpg, png, tiff, etc. , set bridge default program. can make photoshop default app photos, can't bridge work. working on windows 7.

 

it doesn't seem windows problem because other adobe apps work fine when set them default app. also, worked fine before update. have solution doesn't involve doing these steps? tried file associations in control panel > programs > default programs. it's same dialog pointless try.

 

it still doesn't show program can "use" open file. yet, can view pictures in it, have go long way find them or copy , paste location in bridge.

after spending close 2 hours dealing less helpful adobe "support chat" problem wasn't fixed. then, long after went home thought of possible solution. bridge supposed .exe file. morning checked properties of bridge (under program files > adobe > adobe bridge 2017). said application (.exe), decided add .exe extension end of bridge's name (bridge.exe instead of bridge). worked. such simple fix.

 

 

i displeased adobe's tech support. knew more program did , reason had hunch .exe extension because of similar problem had solved on different forum.
