Exploding wood effect

how make looks logo breaking or denting basketball court wood? want break off or shatter. how do in photoshop?? instead of whatever around ball want hardwood basketball court breaking away or apart , instead of ball have logo breaking through!

try this

 

1. put ball on it's own layer

 

 

2. take wood layer , use liquify filter bloat wood add layer mask jagged hole

 

3. make new layer - copy of original floor rotated , masked shards. add layer style inner shadow , drop shadow.
also add curve lighten compared original floor.

make layer smart filter , add radial blur (set zoom)

 

 

4. repeat step 3 2 more times (each time rotating wood , creating different shards)
for each of these additional layers use increased amount of radial zoom blur , use curves make them lighter
