Best Practice for Synching Audio and Video Clips

hi everyone,

i'm casual user of adobe premiere , have started recording audio , video sources separately (using external condenser mic).

now editing clips looking understanding recommended steps put them together. far have cut video files , laid them out in timeline accompanying audio. have separate audio track want use , wondering need cut separate sections along same timestamps before joining them together?

i have referenced following article (syncing audio , video merge clips in premiere pro) it's left me little confused if thinking premiere has 'smarts' in area.

sean.

handiest way sort of thing record sound in-camera also, , use wave-forms nudge external sound place. if use clapper or hand-clap or other sharp loud noise both capture, it's pretty easy general position, zoom in on timeline, , frame-accurate placement.

then either mute or de-link camera audio , remove it.
