Use FFmpeg to view File specification (Format.Codec,Frame rate,...etc)


to check video specification when mediaifno confusing  or curious know altrenative tool stronger

after download complete, extract program because zip file.

 

i take example how check if variable frame rate or constant .

 

 

- put targeted video want view specification beside ffmpeg.exe  in "bin" folder

 

 

 

- run command prompt

 

- type "cmd" in run window "you can find run search field in start menu or hit "windows + r" anytime

 

 

- command prompt window show up.

      

 

type this:

 

cd\ 'press enter

 

 

cd <path letter> example if ffmpeg in t drive type

 

 

cd t:  'press enter

 

then locate ffmpeg folder in cmd, easiest way copy paste path ffmpeg.exe

 

type

 

cd <the ffmpeg.exe path> , example

 

cd t:\***\*****i\programs\ffmpeg\ffmpeg\bin\ffmpeg.exe

 

 

 

 

now in ffmpeg coding area

 

 

type command view video specification

 

 

 

ffmpeg -i <filename><extension>   example

 

 

 

ffmpeg -i web.mov     'press enter

 

 

 

you can want tool once familiar .
