Adobe 2017 updates windows registry problem

i downloaded of new adobe updates earlier week (onto windows 10 pc) , noticed photoshop (and indesign) not seem have registered in windows registry. right clicking on image file bring context menu , selecting 'open with' lists adobe illustrator 2017, not photoshop 2017 (i use windows photo viewer default program, use right click menu open in photoshop when want edit photo). not listed if selecting 'choose app', nor under 'other options' or 'more apps'. if selecting 'look app on pc' , browsing photoshop.exe , clicking file, windows dialog box appeared similar 'open with' box , nothing happening. has stopped coming still nothing happens (the file not open in photoshop). tried going control panel, default programs, adobe 2017 program listed dreamweaver. indesign files on machine have blank icons in file manager, these not registered either, 'open with'... did work. i've noticed updates have left residual files in adobe programs directory each of applications, , in control panel list of programs , features photoshop cc 2015 still listed - on clicking did apparently carry out uninstall though size of residual files few megabytes.

i writing see if others have same problem, , alert adobe, can fix in next updates. meanwhile can give me windows registry fix add photoshop 'open with' context menu?

hi john,

  • please close photoshop , go location of photoshop.exe(c:\program files\adobe\adobe photoshop cc 2015.7) , rename photoshop.exe photoshop cc 2015.7.exe.
  • once done, try select photoshop default program , if cannot go jpg image property , set photoshop cc2017 default program , retry.

let me know if helps.

regards,

akash
