Photoshop Layer Group Folder won't stay closed

i switched photoshop 2017 , noticed weird behavior layer group folders.

 

essentially, expect group folder stay closed unless open explicitly, photoshop 2017 opening them automatically.

 

if have layer group closed, it'll open if click on it. frustrating if want work group's mask. because if add adjustment layer, it'll added inside group. behavior wasn't there in photoshop 2015.

 

in fact, if top group closed, selection, add adjustment layer, expect new adjustment layer go above (outside) group, it'll added inside group instead. behavior wasn't there in photoshop 2015 either.

 

 

is happening else too?

are talking clicking on group in layers panel, or on groups contents in document window?  guessing former, not seeing same behaviour here cc 2017  , windows 10.  groups twirled open if have move tool selected, , auto select checked, expect happen.

 

if bug, might platform specific, can tell operating system using?

 

regards placement of adjustment layers, me placed above group if twirled closed, , inside group (at top) if group twirled open.  istr top of group's layers placement recent change.
