Reader DC Tools to Select or Highlight text not working (or only sporadically)

i using adobe acrobat reader dc v "2015 release | version 2015.020.20042" on windows 7 pc.

 

it has worked great forever has developed, in last couple months, annoying habit tools seem 'check out' , not work. may start working again later (after reboot, or passage of time, or due other software change?). cannot forced work again exiting program , restarting it.

i can find pattern why starts nor why stops.

it affects many documents (and documents same, once issue begins). not matter of me trying highlight image (rather text) - can highlighting text in long document , cannot (except 1 word)... same paragraph.

it not think i'm using acrobat/pro - know reader , limitations. feature works , not others.

 

affected tools i've seen not anymore: hand (pan), select text (can select 1 word -by double-clicking), highlight.

 

i have tried "update" software , reported being date.

i have uninstalled app , re-installed adobe's website - , problem still re-appears.

 

how can address , make reader predictably functional , useful annotating again???

other potentially helpful troubleshooting tidbit: i'm accustomed using wheel-mouse ctrl+scroll zoom while looking @ document.

that feature not work when other tools become non-functional.

is there set of underlying technology tools these features rely upon going sleep on pc?

Extracting portions of an image

hello,   i relatively new illustrator (learning on fly if will), have below image , take red bars , isolate them rest of image (transparent wherever there not red. best/easiest way this? tried using knife , scissor tools not "locking" , allowing me separate. want retain graininess/imperfections, guess if image trace needed, have hi fi.   brandon,   as (mis)understand it, wish have red parts showing, background structure, , rid of grey parts.   presuming red parts vector artwork (paths including compound paths) @ reduced opacity (so can see background structure through it), , background structure raster image, may:   1) select red paths, not background (you may select everything, shiftclick background object deselect it), ctrl/cmd+8 (object>compound path>make); 2) ctrl/cmd+c+b; 3) shiftclick background image , ctrl/cmd+8 (object>clipping mask>make);   you may:   4) select , ctrl/cmd+g group.   this should give desired appearance, outl...

shape alpha vs layer alpha in cc library

i noticed bug or unfortunate flaw or isn't supported yet. set layer percentage of transparency if shapes overlap in layer not make dark line in overlap , faster set layer , make shapes rather make shapes , edit transparency after making each shape.   for reason shapes don't work when going illustrator photoshop, after effects or animator. reason settings layer transparency ignored shadows come out solid colors. yet if remove transparency setting on layer , re-add shape works fine.   this not big of deal normally, have thousands of graphics transparency on layer huge amount of work try , utilize them via cc library. i think 1 feature request form: illustrator feature request/bug report form More discussions in Illustrator adobe
