Documents from previous versions of FM

hello all,

 

i've stepped role doing customer facing , technical documentation our company.  trade business analyst , have point used word , other ms office tools create documentation.  have far had modify existing fm documents , has not bee difficult.

 

i doubt there training $ in budget, left use resources such , forum in order learn.  no doubt, challenging @ times.

 

questions like:

"structured" vs. "unstructured"?

anything required when working on documents created using previous versions (i've v 12 , many if not of our legacy documents created in 9 or 10).

many in advance.

odds you've inherited unstructured documents. if structured, sound document architect has departed, , have big problem.

 

any newer version of fm can open .fm or .mif of older version. due unicode, content changes may expected if older version fm7.2 or earlier. dialogs may pop if older earlier 5.5. in case, should trouble-free.

 

if fm12 works need openable in 9 or 10:
1. don't use features added since then, and
2. save mif share versions
