Apply brush stroke to selection?

is possible have 'stroke path' action 'path' highlighted selection (the marching ants)?

 

i want able highlight parts of image , dictate how brush tool stroke, outline, fill, selected area without manually using brush , without using pen tool.

1) create selection

2) in paths panel click make path selection icon (4th left)

3) make sure brush tool active , correct brush ready

4) in paths panel click stroke path brush (2nd left)

5) ctrl-z or cmd-z undo last step if brush needs adjusting
