need help filling circle with color

i created circle ellipse tool, how go doing done big sg perimeter of letters have different color?

i first got different white color perimeter going select > modify > contract after highlighting letters magic wand tool (i followed tutorial)

 

i cant same thing here (probably because different layer type or something?)

with ellipse tool creates shape on it's own layer.

 

you need set options shape in options bar @ top appears when use tool.

fill fill colour, stroke stroke colour (i.e. colour of perimeter) , next stroke width (i.e. width of line).

just click on coloured boxes , menu drop down
