Stereoscopic 3D
hi,
i wondering setup best working in stereoscopic 3d ( active shutter) in after effects? seems hooking 3d tv 2nd monitor looks inexpensive , easiest solution. workflow ideas?
the important part of producing 3d video study , planning goes project before start doing anything. did first 3d project long time ago using friend chris condon's stereo vision setup on 35mm film camera 30 years ago. did development work on using ae produce james cameron's ghosts of abyss. both of these projects way before had 3d tv's or vr headsets. learned planning before production , setup on set important part of production. it's impossible fix screwed when shot footage.
there lot more written on 3d production there then. suggest read books , study as can. techniques work not software specific. concentrating on production techniques in ae isn't going give skills need @ producing 3d effects.
some friends of mine pioneers in 3d video game , had best success in post using separate 3d monitor - , here's key productivity - more 90% of time in post spent working 1 side of 3d image. of time in post should spent looking @ left eye part of composition. when first started out everything, setting type, done in 3d mode. production painfully slow. didn't take them long learn time should spending looking @ 3d image few minutes takes run preview , make adjustments needed parallax , convergence point in 3d comp. friends jumped on 3d band wagon , spent ton of investors money on gear , projects have abandoned efforts in 3d , moved on greener pastures. fun them while lasted.
