Gamma Shift on Export to Quicktime/Vimeo
hi all,
i have spent past week searching every nook , cranny of internet try , find solution issue , i've had it. thereseems lot of information on issue , many people experience it, there no bonafide solutions (at least knowledge). not technically "spec savvy" individual give background on editing on using new 5k display 27" mac. no installed graphics card or bells , whistles , not using pal monitor color.
my issue after export video premiere, whether h.264 or prores or format matter getting noticeable color shift on final video. when export quicktime and/or directly vimeo.
i have noticed interesting things while investigating this. instance if take exported quicktime sequence , bring in premiere regain same color consistency original premiere file. have noticed if play file using vlc rather quicktime have original quality saw in premiere. issue quicktime , since upload videos vimeo quicktime thats issue. tried uploading sequence directly vimeo premiere using h.264 codec , produces same gamma shift issue.
telling me use vlc view videos instead of quicktime not solution me.
i need simple , easy comprehend way export premiere videos quicktime , or vimeo while maintaining same beautiful color editing in premiere timeline. right literally "over coloring" images anticipate gamma shift on export. seems decent work around looking solution.
i appreciate time in reading post , welcome response.
thanks,
andrew
you pretty answered own question:
there no bonafide solutions (at least knowledge).
the problem quicktime, not premiere or other software might use edit/color/finishing. there nothing can it. in business has deal it.
as noted, when bring export premiere or view in vlc, color correct, means export done correctly.
since dealing issue, , not using quicktime preferred method of viewing, i'd advise against oversaturating or changing gamma compensate qt issue. may make files better in qt, "off" everywhere else. way approach if ever care how looks in quicktime.
remember, small consolation though may be, have issue! not judged differently else because of it. notice because it's material, other people won't notice it.
