changing color(s) over time with a multi-color imported image
hello all!
have nagging question maybe 1 of pros answer.
i learn doing exercises trying implement new effects know nothing about. know how change color of 1 item in object or image keyframe keyframe if there multiple things in object want change independently different colors.
here's project: have royalty free .eps image i've resized in illy. image of symmetrical lines done in greyscale. white light grey , dark grey. want able (in ae) change white lines on time orange , light grey pink etc. how possible.
my initial thoughts need import different colored lines 1 file separate files. apply effect. ok, how accomplished? if lines on black bkgd wouldn't have worry keying out bkgd color? make newly imported files separate layers on single composition , apply effects directly layers?
i'm sure hack through , prob done it'd nice know i'm doing correctly or there isn't 1 thing make easy know what. saying because there ten such multi-colored line images have to. how compile within composition without having hundred layers?
any appreciated!! in advance , happy holidays!!!

open eps file in illustrator , separate each individual element want animate separate layer. may able using sequence of layers man in layer panel inside illustrator. save file illustrator file , open inside ae composition.
i have not tried may able convert eps layer shape layers inside ae , separate shape each element. depends on how file created.
if post file can give better suggestions
