File/Reconnect/All Missing Files vs Find/All Missing Files

i'm using pe14 on windows 10 pc.

i notice different results when use 'file/reconnect/all missing files' menu choice ( 184 files found) vs

'find/all missing files' menu choice (no missing files found).

 

what difference in 2 options?

there should no difference in number of files; have never found result yours.

the big difference in interface. 'find' menu creates selection lets browse missing files visually , more conveniently spot expected location of files stored in catalog ('location' in top 'general' info section).

 

the 'reconnect all' menu starts reconnecting process after showing list of missing files; may less informative showing thumbnails, can sort filename or original folder location. can limit search selected files.

 

with 'find' option, select (highlight) found thumbnails , assign common keyword find reason of missing files. it's general best option find 'why' files missing , 'where'. if right click on thumbnail of missing file , choose 'go folder', left panel may show dimmed folders missing files. folders 1 original download , no longer available (renamed, moved or deleted).

 

a useful tip select files of folder subfolders:

- rename (temporarily) master folder

- use find missing files, select , assign common keyword.

- rename back. can use keyword select files, in subfolders.
